Tomato Sambar

Ingredients

To grind:

coconut - 3 tbsp
pottu kadalai - 1 1/2 tbsp
corriander seeds - 1 tsp
sombu - 1/2 tsp
poppy seeds - 1/2 tsp
(optional)
pattai (cinnamon) - 1 piece
lavangam(clove) - 2
ginger and garlic -1 tsp

tomato - 1 medium size

To fry:


mustard seeds,urad dal,channa dal - each 1/2 tsp
curry leaves, corriander
onion - 1 medium size
oil -2 tbsp
salt and chilli powder to taste

Method :
step 1: grind all the ingredients given
under 'to grind' except tomato.
add required amount of water
and grind to a nice paste

step 2: add tomato at last and grind

step 3: heat the pan and pour the oil

step 4: in hot oil, add mustard seeds(
allow it to splutter), urad and
channa dal.
can also add little jeera.

step 5: add curry leaves and onion. fry it
till golden brown

step 6: add the grinded paste, salt and
chilli powder.

step 7: add required water and allow it to
boil. add corriader.

It may look very tedious, but it is
actually simple once u have all the
ingredients in place.give it a try. I am
sure u will like it.

It is wonderful with idli and dosa.serve
with ghee.
